NAC/Royal Shakespeare Company production of Margaret Atwood's The Penelopiad. Dark. Gruesome. Witty. Fantastically acted. It's only playing until Oct 6, and there were empty seats when Mark and I went yesterday. If you can scrimp together cash for the pricey seats ($30-65), it's totally worth it. And I'm the last person I'd expect to be recommending The Penelopiad. I'm telling you, I had all my wires crossed before I went. Is it better than the book? The first 3/4s works better on the stage than the page. The final 1/4 is a bit of a cop-out compared to the book, but how could it have been staged differently?
