A bright note in the Kanata Capital Xtra box eviction story. Facing pressure from conservative folks in Kanata, the owners of The Broadway Bar & Grill asked that Capital Xtra remove its distinctive purple box from in front of its Bridlewood location. About a dozen gays and lesbians from downtown (including myself and two other Xtra staffers, Kevin Falkingham and publisher Gareth Kirkby) headed out there last night to be bright and gay. It now appears there will be some resolution: when asked about helping out, the folks at The Works (which has a location in the same stripmall as The Broadway -- in addition to locations in the Glebe, Westboro and New Edinborough) expressed interest in hosting a distribution spot -- about 60 feet from our original location.
